NGD - Republic Tricone Resonator
Mmmmmm I'll let the pix do the talking, needless to say that I'm as happy as a dog with two tails at the moment. To me it plays as well as k1w1s and thats exactly what I was hoping for. Sounds exactly as it should, man it looks tasty enough to eat too.

That's cool, and also appears to have a chastity belt for a bridge.
What's the lowdown on Resonators? They have a flippy metal cone thing inside to make them louder, and that's all I really know.

Soooooo Jealous. How about some soundclips at some stage?
I am so getting a shiny one (when I can find a place to hide it)

Yeah, only the tricone has 3 flippy metal cone things to make them 3 times louder... well not quite but yeah loudish. They have a sound all of their own really Like an acoustic but not as gay.slash-ed wrote:That's cool, and also appears to have a chastity belt for a bridge.

Excellent photo taking skills BG. That is a sick guitar, I came very close to pulling the trigger on that one myself (until the Weissenborn bug bit me!) Enjoy!

Mate that's just sweet looking, great photos, I was always a bit suss on the copper/distressed look but feck thats a beauty, congrats. Whats the set up like?BG wrote:Mmmmmm I'll let the pix do the talking, needless to say that I'm as happy as a dog with two tails at the moment. ETA: BG tru oil the front of the headstock, those decals are really easy to wear off, if you look at mine you will see the slightly uneven finish left that way deliberately to avoid sand through. Mainly because the decal is quite neat. God that thing is a looker.

For some reason I managed to catch the light just right in a couple to show off my fence and deck at their bestrobnobcorncob wrote:Excellent photo taking skills BG. That is a sick guitar, I came very close to pulling the trigger on that one myself (until the Weissenborn bug bit me!) Enjoy!

Thanks guys, I wanted the sort of coppery relic finish as I knew I'd never polish it if it was chrome, and it would tarnish etc etc. At least this way, it'll relic naturally and not look much different

Many thanks to Laurie (k1w1) for lending me his so I could get bitten by the bug as it were! The setup is very very similar to yours, though I think you have an ebony bridge on yours? Dunno what this is, probably the bog standard whatever it came with. But yeah well setup, John knows his stuff I reckon.
Now I just have to wait for my finger to heal from a bizarre onion/fingernail accident before I can play it properly. Its a long story but onion right up under the fingernail is fecking painful I can tell you!

Re: NGD - Republic Tricone Resonator
Nice one. The Weissenborn is so different to bottleneck and I think of the Weissenborn as a totally separate instrument. Blues bottle neck yum
Any thoughts on this one?

Very ornate obviously, I wonder if they are made in the same factory as the Republic ones? Reviews are few and far between and the Republics are getting a lot more attention and they are cheaper, I guess you pay for the stylish inlay really... Love that Duolian look!
