It needs a full scale operation to hollow the body out and get it to shed 2kgs.
Put it on a diet of 80s hair metal?
I prefer the operation. Can you throw a few scalpels my way?
They don't let me near scalpels since 'the incident'.

The 3.8kg was my main gigging guitar and didn't give me any issues, but I had a Les Paul that was around 4.5kg that was a really struggle to play standing for long periods (but I'm not very big!).
I totally agree with you. It is 400g difference (3.8kg vs 3.4kg) which is like a can of beans. Can of beans itself doesn't feel much but that small difference makes a huge difference on strats, I find this very interesting since 3.8kg on a Les Paul doesn't feel "heavy"

olegmcnoleg wrote: Tue May 03, 2022 6:50 am There is a myth that somehow lighter Strats and Teles sound better. You don’t need to buy into it. (The really light ones are often swamp ash, not alder.)

If you have found a Strat that works for you and is still comfortable, then I say stick with it.
Lighter strats tend to be a trend where it makes it sound "better". I feel like I am getting convinced because everyone is saying it :mental:

It is so heavy that you can only play Lay down Sally, when you are sitting with support cushions around you.

It needs a full scale operation to hollow the body out and get it to shed 2kgs.
That must be, I don't my poor back can hold 6kgs, I already found 3.8kg strat heavy

^This!

Just weighed my strat... 1990s, USA, Alder... 3.95kg! Didnt used to feel that heavy in the 90s! 😆. Promised myself a LP once the degree is finished. I'll be looking <=4kg.

Compare with SE soapbar at 3.01kg... Absolute delight to play
The SE must feel like a feather to play with, I think I prefer lighter guitars too

My LP is bang on 4kg. I wonder if the strap helps too, I have a thick leather strap that holds it fairly stable on my shoulder. My "heavy" strat has a cheaper strap and slips and slides around a bit.
Yeah I agree, I heard that elastic/ rubber straps can make it feel much lighter on the shoulders

Do you find it heavy?
For a guitar, no. My other strata are lighter and I did a korina body once which was offensively light.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

The one I remember being very heavy was a 1975 Stratocaster. I don’t know the weight but I’m sure it would have been well over 4kilo. The 1972 one I have now is 3.6kilo and is manageable.
