Guitar shopping in Nashville
Had a sweet day guitar shopping in Nashville today .
At Gruhns I tried an early 1960 Les Paul standard, a 1957 Les Paul custom, two 1955 Teles, an exceptionally clean 58 strat, a couple of pre war martins and a 1931 Nick Lucas Gibson all of these guitars sounded incredible.
At Carters I tried a 1958 Player grade Les Paul standard, and the full range of bridge options on the early P90 gold tops stop tail, stop bar and trapeze which was a Glaser top wrap which was actually the pick of the Les Paul’s there for sound and playability and by far the cheapest as it had a headstock break and refin gold on the back, I’m thinking about getting even though it’s a bit over priced killer killer guitar, apart from the trapeze gold top the other vintage Les Paul’s at carters were a bit average needed fret jobs etc.
At rumble seat I played a few guitars but a 1965 epiphone Olympic was the pick of the whole store that thing was alive I’m thinking of getting that also.
At guitar centre I tried some of the rare and hard to find PRS private stock, Suhr and Tom Andersons.
Gibson garage was cool two acoustics were killer like ridiculously better than all the others, and their 59 Murphy labs were also better than average, they must keep the pick of the litter, because so many of them were really exceptional examples. All in all a fun day will have to post photos when I get home to my laptop I don’t know how to do it from my phone.

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville
Sounds like serious fun!
I wandered into the Ithaca, NY location of Rumble Seat a few years ago. Their collection was most impressive.
I'd be wary of buying from Carter's. They tried to sell a dodgy Bluesbreaker a few years ago (unsure if ultimately successful), and stood by it when the discrepancies were pointed out.
Good to see Gibson are "authentically" keeping the tradition of inconsistent acoustics alive!

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville
They disclosed everything there is to disclose on this particular guitar, don’t think there is anything else left, but man it plays and sounds how a good vintage guitar should, like an old pair of worn in jeans everything is effortless to play and just flows out of it.wavesofffear wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 10:45 am Sounds like serious fun!

Re: Guitar shopping in Nashville
I’ll post more pictures once I get home just finishing up Cuba, Bahamas and New Orleans, but got to see a couple of Dumble amps and an original Trainwreck and a lot of sweet other guitars including old Tele boardcaster and nocaster, one of them was owned by G.E Smith and Mary Kaye’s strat which I swear looks shell pink despite it being blond, unless she also owned a shell pink one, in which case I’m stoked to see what an original shell pink strat looks like.

Sounds like you've hit some amazing places! I have fond memories of the Bahamas, the beaches there are just ridiculous
What were the Dumble's and Trainwreck that you saw? I'd hate to think what the pricetags were on those amps ?!

Can't wait to see some pictures and hear your thoughts! Especially on Dumbles compared to your Two Rock.
