Gibson LP Studios?
Sorry to talk about guitars and ruin the fun.
What's the skinny on LP Studios? Specifically 2017 T models (not the high performance model, but T for traditional apparently) if anyone knows anything? I've been offered one in a trade but don't know much about them apart from what the spec sheets say.
Also, any ideas on approx value with the brown Gibson hardcase? It's also lefty meaning they are $3500 new at rockshop which seems rather high but there it is.
Educate me oh wise ones.

Re: Gibson LP Studios?
Are you able to do an expired auction search on trademe to see what selling prices have been for studios?
Has the person given you an idea of what trade value they place on it?

I don't think trademe has that functionality does it?
I've a Schecter nick Johnston sig I don't play, they offered the Studio in trade, so not sure where that puts it in value.

Re: Gibson LP Studios?
Ah yep there it is. The only one that actually sold was a broken one for $750. Beyond that it's a lot of repeated listings of the one for sale at cash converters which looks like a bit of a wreck.
Nobody seems to be buying the studios.
Cheers for the heads-up on the expired listings, that's very useful.

Re: Gibson LP Studios?
I find reverb isn't particularly applicable to nz or lefties personally. We've got our own market down here and I'm fairly sure there's 8 left handed guitar players in NZ. But, it says right handed versions have sold for around $1400-1800 nzd in the recent months.
Specifically it's a 2017 studio T in black cherry burst the guy is looking to trade. It's a bit of a weird finish.

Those 90's ones are sought after as they (usually) have a ebony fret board.blackstratblues wrote: ↑Thu Oct 27, 2022 8:27 am My dad sold his 90's Studio for around 1800 last year, if that helps
A 2017 Studio T should have a rosewood fretboard, they stopped using the alternative fretboard materials around then after all the CITES issues got resolved.

Dad's was a rosewood board, but it was black with gold hardware. Sold pretty quickly.

Re: Gibson LP Studios?
I had a 90's one around 2003-04. Paid about 1k because it had been sanded back to a natural finish from a wine red. Played well, sounded decent but nothing on my bandmate's LP Classic. I never gelled with it, but most people who played it liked it, felt weird without the binding though. I traded it for an '82 Flying V from memory before moving on to my '61 reissue SG.
