First reso recording

Post by HANGMAN »

Recorded this today with my Fender resonator (wooden body) - I like the wooden body reso's cos you can strum 'em and they sound good whereby with the steel ones you have to actually be a good guitarist to play them lol :P

I'm loving this, definitely a different flavour in the guitar to BG's tricone. I like how you're not doing fiddly fancy picking, just simple strumming, and it's working VERY well with your singing.

This was my first live use of both the reso gat and slide from last week - pretty basic playing (I wasn't game to try anything fancy lol) but I was fairly happy with the sound none-the-less...

Me & my obtuse, selfish and shallow way. I commented on another song and came wandering back and found your Son House cover. Is that open G tuning you're using?

ah ok - lol. Yes, Open G on this - I actually prefer Open A but too often get issues with string snappage!

Yeah, this :) though it's harder on the tricone hitch is 12 frets to body, makes you stretch a bit.
