Great start BC :D

If no one else wants the second slot I'll take a shred-dump on it now. Be back in a couple of minutes, quality not guaranteed ;)

My shredding is on hold for a day or 2, because my fingers have blistered like a little girl from overplaying my new gat too much.

Nice work there mate....the first 2 slots have some killer shred goodness. Gelato at 1.10 sounding very Yngwie.

Anyone else dare to have a go?

Well I've already put a Megadeth solo over the top, it would be funny to hear a Metallica one on there too :D You should be able to find something that works, pretty much everything from the first 4 albums was in E wasn't it?

I have the updated track in sitting Sonar and have armed 2 separate tracks to record in left and right channel from the POD, but the guitar tone is recording way too gainy for some reason, much gainier than it sounds monitored. I dunno. I have invented some semi-original sounding guitar parts and it gets all melodic during the slow bit, so hopefully I get this DAW and POD thing sussed. I'd prefer to wait until I get my amp back and the pinnacle pedal, but whatever....
I'm still hungover from going to Converge, so progress is slow.
That band was awesome btw, heaps of energy and the guitarist was excellent. I think they are doing an unplanned/bonus all ages gig in AK tommorow.

On the first lead, what interface did you use to record on the computer, Whats the best thing to use if you have a pc? How do you insert your lead into the song or track or whatever? It sounds far better that I would expect from just playing the song out on speakers and recording guitar through a amp. I have never seen how its done.

Yeah, that's my Electra Dyne with an SM57 in front of it. I had a killer sound with two mics on it, but it caused problems when I wanted to do multiple takes, so I took one away.

The signal was going through the G-System but I didn't have any effects engaged. The only effect was a Maxon OD. The delay was added in Logic.

Just re-read Tonemaker's post and realised that I didn't really answer the question

I'm using a Line 6 UX-2 for an interface, but there are myriads of audio interfaces that will work just as well.

The recording software I use is Logic, which is a Mac program, but again there are lots of different programs you could use to do this type of thing,

All you do is import the backing track into whatever multitrack software you're using and record yourself on another track. When you're done you mix (or "bounce") the two tracks down to a new Mp3 file and then upload it back up onto the thread for the next person.
