mmm - at the risk of sounding like a nana..... this was true last time.

Apart from the social aspect, what appeals about a gearfest is the chance to hear what sounds people have and to get more understanding of why they have made the gear choices they did...what was the sound they were chasing? What order is the patching? Did the choice of gear actually work? Were there surpises that happenned" dissapointments? problems that needed solving? In the case of some of the more boutique gear...how does it actually perform etc.

Last time was quite free for all and I never got to really hear anything clearly......

Does anyone else like the idea of a little bit of structure to let us hear the gear and the people??

..........................or should I just stfu :D

When *Unique* comes to a Gearfest he usually organises a bit of a show and tell circle where everyone.... shows and tells... what they've got, what it does, how they use it etc.

He's the only one with the management skills to round up NZGers successfully at most Gearfests

Structure sounds good, Amez Amez sound good...

I'm sure we can get a circle going with folks either playing their own gear or nominating someone to play for them (if you're feeling shy)...

Surely everyone can bust out "Wild Thing" if they HAVE too...

I played with Chris when I filled in for his keyboard buddy Ollie Hansen in their band of the time ... Big Time. Just a sequencer duo setup.

Anyways, we were in Timaru one night and there was some navy ship in port and the pub was rocking as we came up to finish. I can't remember why, but Es (female singer) packed a sad and left the stage at 1:30am when we were scheduled to finish - so Chris and I rocked out on our own til 2am I think. Twas awesome, just two guys rockin out. Chris used to add some shred in, specially for me.

I also sang a few times with Ace (Paul Mason) in the followup band when Chris left.

I think Ace is playing as well.

Is that the hot blonde that threw all of Chris's possessions in the Avon River one night?

Yep.

We had a falling out after I played in the band ... and I didn't speak to her for a couple of years or something. But our paths wove together again and we've been good friends ever since. She was best man at my wedding. I didn't have a really close mate who could make it so she was it, and she was good friends with Steph as well.

Sounds like we have a few people in common in the past.
