1964 Fender Jazzmaster

I finally finished working on it..just like the mechanics car. The old rosewood was/is very challenging to work with.

Late '63 neck stamp, '64 pot codes, so it hit the store in the first qtr '64.

Big neck, much like my now sold Strat. That profile is magic to my hands.
The celluloid pickguard shrunk so much I had to carefully enlarge the pickup cutouts with a scraper to fit the guard back on. Even now all the screws are facing inwards as the guard is slowly pulling itself smaller (probably stopped shrinking now actually).

Pickups sound strong - resistance wise the bridge reads almost 9K, while the neck at around 8.4k.

I haven't even cleaned it, and probably never will. I like the 54 year old gunk on it....no, not me!

That looks wicked! What did you have to do to it to get it going nicely?

Mainly fret work, nut, pickguard adaptation, neck shim work, pots cleaned, tuners cleaned and lubed...a good going over really.

The frets took a long time. Crumbly rosewood is not pleasant to manage. Spent 95% time prepping the slots!

Confess I looked at the pics and mostly thought: "Fuck, I need a nicer house..."

Guitar looks cool, Grant.

In b4 Conway says old, smelly, not blue, etc.

Love that tortoise guard.

Feck I hope so - it was a biatch.

Might be an optics thing...standard modern Fender (just checked - smaller actually). Altho I will admit I would prefer a slightly smaller tang. StewMac don't offer it.

Matt black, graphics and a floyd should sort it right out.
Terrible taste as always...
