After about a million years I got all the paint and FP off, and started to fill...and fill...and fill....

Filling done, time for sealer coats - not here, next photos.

Sealer

Colour time (4-5 coats), then clear (some amber x 4, the next 4 clear)

Polishing, by hand, for my sins in every previous life ever.

Oh yeah, did the neck. It had been refretted many times. I left any marks or nicks etc in there as a testament to this being a well played, great sounding guitar.

The tang is almost into the maple due to the radius.

That's an incredible transformation. I once refinished a CS Strat that'd been painted thick white (still soft) over a custom Clapton finish, over the original LPB. I thought that was a lot of work.

Yeah...debatable, but I'm a nerd for correctness. Black light will look more "correct", but otherwise imperceptible.

Paint removal was heat gun, chemical, physical and a ton of mental.

I have a small collection of tools to scrape and shift paint away from the wood as it loosens.

Sand paper started at around 220 and ended up at 400/600, before sealer. After 4 coats of sealer (in my case, just nitro), knock back w 600 grit. Start spraying colour.
