Fender Thinline Custom Colours

Cool article.
I'm refinishing a Series II, with a mahogany body. They were normally a natural finish, but I'm wanting to paint this a cool colour. I will be aging it. Any ideas? I'm liking black or LPB at this stage.
It would have been like this.

Black does look good. It's a biatch to get perfect, but the aging might cover any sins that creep through

Two colours I'm vibing with at present: Sherwood Green and Prussian Blue. Metallic, obviously. And ignore the otherwise unpleasant guitars hiding under said colours.GrantB wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 9:13 am https://wellstrungguitars.com/fenders-f ... elecaster/

Re: Fender Thinline Custom Colours
Love them both.
The blue is relatively close to LPB...deeper.
I should have added, I want to ensure the colour is/was a real Fender colour of the day. The guitar has had a tough life but I'd like to get it as close to factory as poss.
Maybe CAR could be a go...would need to age it heavy as I'm not a fan of shiny CAR.

It's a bit involved to spray, right? Sealer, white, silver metallic, red tinted clear...GrantB wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 9:46 am Love them both.

I'm sure you could skip the white undercoat. I read that the separate metallic and tinted coats are essential though.GrantB wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 10:11 amThat sounds like a faff. Olympic white for any Fender is never the wrong choice.GrantB wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 10:11 amThat sounds like a faff. I don't have time for faff. Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: Fender Thinline Custom Colours
Remember the movie The Commitments? I've always thought that it's a great movie for musicians. The band pretty much only fights and achieves next to nothing but it makes you really want to be in a band anyway. I'm not sure what that says about the mindset of being a musician.
Anywho, the gat player in that one has a cool coloured thinline. Might not be an original colour and its got some decal thing going on but it looks pretty cool.
You sourcing some proper CuNIFES for this bad boy?

Re: Fender Thinline Custom Colours
The guitar is factory, excepting the finish. I had to repair some cracks on the mahogany body. Other than that all hardware and electronics are original.kdawg2a wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 11:01 am Remember the movie The Commitments? I've always thought that it's a great movie for musicians.
