What year is it ? Looks to be in mint condition !
Yes, it is a very nice relic from September 1978. Ibanez made some wonderful stuff in the second half of that decade.
I've long been looking for a mint PF400 (The only solid top version) Never found one.
That looks great Jay!
There's a principle I think we as a community should be engaged with; the role of custodian. We're the geeks, we have the knowlege and resources and it's our responsibility to care of the things we love.
Two examples:
Jay's Ibanez is now rescued and restored to a safe position in the world thanks to his initiative and skill. That it hasn't been stripped and recoloured is, in part the result of our collective wisdom and influence. This is the community working as it should. and it's a great outcome.
I just bought an acoustic guitar off Trademe for a few hundred bucks. It needed my geek brain to work out what I was seeing. A roadworn instrument with a name no one had heard of...
We hadn't heard of him simply because he's famous for his classical guitars; they sell now for $7-12k US on the used market. The few steel strings he made were pattened off pre war Martin D28s and made from prettier looking Brazilian Rosewood than Martin used.
I caught one headed for the NZ guitar market bilges. It will be restored and conserved and I don't give a damn if I can increase its market value or not. It's a superb example of our collective passion and that's why I'll do whatever I can to keep it doing what it was designed to do.
My point being, we're the geeks, this is where our skills and power lie. We are the ones who future generations will thank because we didn't let something curently out of fashion and obscure die.
Grantb has long been our guiding light here and I honour him for it.
