Hand clap pedal!

Post by michael_m »

Hey all, I've been thinking of an idea lately that i want to build for my drummer as a birthday present. Sadly, i don't have the technical knowhow to bring it to life. Can you guys take a look at the concept of this and tell me how plausible it is?

say i wanted a pedal for my drummer, where every time he hits it with his foot, it outputs to my amp the signal for a certain sound effect? essentially what i mean is the same principle that electronic drumkits work by. a few different effects to choose from would be great, but what i mostly have in mind here is the fake hand clap noise most drum machines produce.

I'm asking a few engineering student friends of mine if they can help me out, but if any of you guys in the auckland area are willing to help out, be my guest! Of course I'll happily finance your efforts

Cheers

I've been tempted to make a bunch of these out of guitar wood offcuts. Piece of piss.

well if you want to do a layout that'd be cool, and if the OP wants me to put it together...

yes! that'd be great! could you give me a rough estimation of costs, so i can make some calculations? if it's a bit too out of my depth financially, i'll get back to you guys at a later point when i can afford it.

The only problem I can see is some of those parts on the schematic are unreadable, you may have to find a better scan. I think I've found substitutes for most of the obsolete silicone parts...

Yeah, I was talking to michael_m about finding the better scan. Looks like I can use the other synth schematic for all of the hard to see parts though...
As for cost, I'll do the layout & redesign for free, but a metal box, a piezo, caps, resistors, 7 IC's, Rocky's time and materials, etc... could get quite pricy.

I gotta admit.. once you add that lot up, for a replica of something that boss prolly made kajillions of.. why not just get the real thing? :?
