effects loops noob

Post by johnny mullet »

I've built up a collection of pedals now and have certain combos I like. What can I use where I can step on a single switch to dial up any of these pre-set arrangements? Also does anyone have a diy schematic of such an animal? Cheers to anyone who can help

So do you want something that will change the order of the pedals? Then you need something pretty complex and expensive. I think a Gigrig would do the job, or some sort of rack switcher with midi switchable loops and a midi board. Voodoo labs ground control + GCX switcher come to mind.

If you mean that you just want to select some set loops then you will just need a true bypass loop box. Loopmaster in the USA do great boxes (I've got two myself). Also, Ryan from Custom Audio Boutique can hook you up with some "road rage"? pedal or something similar which would be just as good. I think they are being sold on Trademe at the moment. The stuff ryan has will be just as good and most likely cheaper and faster/safer to get so I would go with that. Plus, forum discount!

I wish I knew he had that stuff when I did my loopmaster order.. :( Took months for my stuff to be made.

If you're looking to turn on and off a certain combination of pedals with a single footswitch, then the Road Rage stuff is just the ticket. As Zaulkin says, I've got plenty of stock and there are discount for NZG members.

If you're wanting to do multiple configurations of these same pedals, you'll need something more complex, programmable by dip-switch or midi.

I use what Ryan is talking about and they are great, but it sounds like you are after somethign different and more complex - like a pre determined set of effects on/off. That looper thingy that is a banner sometimes does all of that. I almost got one until I tried to read the manual and it made little sense (posibly due to my age!). But I've seen one in action and I have to say it was impressive. Immediate switching. No tone loss.

Once the kids have grown and I actually have more than 3 minutes a day to myself I might try one.
