Ok new surfybear goodness....
I bought the bits from kev77 for a few reasons.
1/ The cab is tweed, one of a kind and I like the builder - not as much as I should, but hey.
2/ Surfybear kits have a great rep.
3/ I wanted a new soddering iron, perfect excuse. Retired my 15 year old Dick Smith POS. Bought a Weller, cos I've always like them.
4/ I don't have reverb in either of my tweed amps, though I have real 50's trem in my vibrolux - so was curious to see how good this was in comparison.
I did the test build a couple of weeks back - the ally chassis was a bit shit, so built an new bender (oh-err). Bent some more ally and shined it up a bit, hey its going to get a proper faceplate at some stage (the vibrolux has been waiting about 12 years funnily enough).
How does it sound? Not sure really yet, only tested quickly to make sure sound was going through it. Will get some time over the next few days, my hands better in mornings so I tend to play with headphones first thing. This is obviously not going to work.
This is how it looks currently, I'm going to distress it more in line with my vibrolux cab, this one is just semi-olding.

Re: Ok new surfybear goodness....
scuse the thumb, there were more images with worse! Glasses and direct sunlight I blame.
No apologies for the foot
I should say that left hand side is the reverb kit, full size tank. Right hand side is the Trem kit, can switch between 50's and 60's style. I've always preferred proper 50's bias trem so that switch won't get flicked much. I've got a boss two foot switch thing and the stereo socket on the back will be wired up for trem on/off and probably 50's/60's.
I won't wire up the reverb to the footswitch - after all its there to be used

Re: Ok new surfybear goodness....
Cool. Did the bender make a nice sharp 90 degree bend?

Re: Ok new surfybear goodness....
It would have if I'd done a cutaway on the inside, it was more of the rounded kind, but thats fine with me

Re: Ok new surfybear goodness....
it came out well, the ally plate is about 3 or 4mm thick iirc so without undercutting, its not going to be tighter than that.

Looks great!
That 50s/60s switch toggles between Bias and Harmonic- definitely a good time!
