Re: Isolation pedal build
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: Isolation pedal build
How long does this take to "print"? Is it a type of plastic and how strong is it?

Re: Isolation pedal build
That piece is around 10-11 hours, the plastic is called PLA, looks like the stuff you put in your weedeater, strength really comes down to the design, I desiged this with 3mm thick sides and top and it will easily take my entire body weight on it without caring, and thats only with 20% fill in the sides and top, you might be able to see a honeycomb look in the picture, thats the other 80% which is fresh air, where it hasn't printed to save time and plasticMike Clayton wrote:How long does this take to "print"? You can print at 100% fill but its really slow and doesn't actually add much strength, the bulk of the strength is in the outer and inner final layers, and you can adjust the thickness of those and then use less fill internally
I've made a few enclosures like this, the best thing is you don't have to drill holes! You can precisely place them in your 3d model and then click print

I'm sure you could, but I'm just printing in another colour now, decided on black to match most of my pedals, didn't fancy using the orange or green I have for thisMike Clayton wrote:Awesome, thanks for the info. Can you paint it later?

Excellent, ball-park price for a printer like yours or one at least capable of printing similarly?

I think mine was about $450, creality cr-10 mini, did a few upgrades including a magnetic print bed, it's not a hobby for the faint hearted, definitely for tinkerers!Mike Clayton wrote:Excellent, ball-park price for a printer like yours or one at least capable of printing similarly?

That looks excellent JB!!! I'm assuming that you could make them so you can drill and tap to attach a base/lid to it?

How ancient, there are 3d printed threads in the corners of the box and the lid I printed has counter sunk holes for the M4x0.7mm screws I'm going to use in itLostininverness wrote:That looks excellent JB!!! I'm assuming that you could make them so you can drill and tap to attach a base/lid to it?
