True bypass loop & pedalboard
Hi all,
I'm having conniptions with my pedalboard and need to upgrade soon. I run about 6 pedals at the moment (off my boss TU-2 as a power supply), but could ideally add a few more - maybe up to 10. One of them would be an Ibanez AD-80 which runs off an 18V supply.
I thought the time had come to employ something like a 10 button true bypass loop/controller (so I can stop dancing all over my board at every change and having my tone sucked down a hole), a dedicated power supply (able to provide 9 and 18 volts circuits at the same time - is this possible?) and a decent size board (properly angled, roadcased and hopefully somewhat shock protected). Ideally it would be a case of turn up to gig, plug in power, plug in guitar, plug out to amp, turn on and play.
Does anyone have suggestions where I could get this kind of stuff in NZ, or who might construct such a beast for me (in Auckland preferably).
I have looked at the 10 loop Loop-Master http://www.loop-master.com/product_info ... 6a7i8nvlg4 and thought it looked OK....

Look no further than Ryan at Custom Audio Boutique. He stocks pedaltrains, power supplies and a little birdie tells me he may have some true bypass loops coming down the pipe very soon.

<plug>im selling my Radial Loopbone - currently on musicxchange - not sure if that helps you at all, as it only has two independant loops on there, but the gain / drag controls are awesome! - </plug>
Also im pretty sure the Dunlop DCB-10 does 18v as well as 9v, otherwise you could also check out T-Rex Engineering, they have some great power supplies!!

Re: True bypass loop & pedalboard
You could make a Y patch cable that puts two 9v's in serial for 18v

How can I be sure I'm here?

only if there's a floating earth,... the earths on the I/O jacks would be the same earth as the 2nd 9V which would short the first 9V to the 2nd earth, no?jeremyb wrote:You could make a Y patch cable that puts two 9v's in serial for 18v

Lowslung, I have a Voodoo Lab pedalpower 2 on my board. I got mine from guitarpedals.co.nz (forum member trueman) With it I power a few 9v pedals, a 18v pedal, and I also have two outputs connected in parallel to give some extra juice to a Eventide pedal.
Ryan/Custom Audio Boutique also sells the Modtone powerplant, a similar gadget. He also sells pedaltrain boards, which come in a flight case and look really good too.
Trueman sells the voodoo lab controllable loop units, his board is pretty sweet. http://www.voodoolab.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=110 look for truemans' board, 2nd down.
Re: True bypass loop & pedalboard
Sounds like I need to talk to Ryan then...
The other guitarist in our band has a pedal train, which admittedly looks quite good.
Also that power module (VoodooLab?) sounds like the treat.
Thanks for suggestions - keep em coming.

Re: True bypass loop & pedalboard
That 10 loop bypass switch won't really solve your problem of tap dancing, you'll just be doing it from a different location.
What you need is one of these:

They are a brilliant idea, and all analog.

Re: True bypass loop & pedalboard
Can't speak highly enough of the PedalTrain systems, I've had the PT2HC, PTPROHC, and now on the PT1HC, (changed as my setup has changed a few times). If you don't need the protection, even for the reduced setup time, and knowing that everything is exactly where its supposed to be, it's worth it!
