Swapping Case. Rewire Footswitch? How?

Post by dayl »

I have an old behringer HM2 clone that I really dig a lot. But I cant handle the terrible behringer cases. I just cant

I cracked open the case and am not sure .... in fact have no clue how to rewire to the new foot switch.

If someone could help before I blindly trawl the web, that would be cool

Meter the contact points and the switch. My guess is only one set of contacts are being used and it’s a momentary switch. You’ll need a momentary stomp rather than the 3pdt you have there. Alternately. Trace the whole switching circuit to bypass or google trubypass mod for the pedal. See if someone has done it for you.

If it’s just the case you don’t like I’d buy the momentary stomp. They are more mechanically reliable anyway.

Looking at the solder joints, all four pins on the switch are being used (mostly for ease of construction) but with only two points of contact; two pins contacted the PCB trace going back to the switching circuit and the other two to the ground plane.

You just need a normally open momentary switch, of which I have a few spare, so PM me and I can hook you up. One contact in the switch goes to the connection on trace and the other to ground plane.

Happy to help if you need further assistance.

It is definitely an option. A bit more fiddly to setup however.
