A quick update - the Princeton Deluxe prototype is now running well and making about 12W in "PR" mode & 20W in "DR" mode. You can switch between the modes and the choke is permanently in circuit (eliminating 100Hz hum). I'm running a Jensen P10R in the combo cab which is good for 25W RMS. Here's a pic of the amp with it's temporary control panels (the panels are printed on paper and laminated at Warehouse Stationery)!

Will get some clips and post. Yes, pointing a bit high with the speaker but I am a hopeful chap.

I had the amp on loan from MikeC for a while, as you can tell I had heaps of fun playing it!
The cleans were awesome as you'd expect, but the driven sounds were so satisfying.

It didn't sound quite that good at my place.

Thanks for putting it through its paces Warren. I learned a lot from that.

Blackstratblues is a bit like Pete Thorn, in that everything he demos sounds fantastic! In saying that, I've got a MikeC Princeton and it really does sound fantastic! 😊

You might have allready addressed this, but is the OT beefed up too?
If so I imagine that helps with the inherent fizzyness of the PR drive (amongst your other mods)

The PR, OT, and choke (yes it has one) are all DR spec. In DR mode, the "Stokes Mod" is applied which prevents the early onset asymmetric clipping that the PR's cathodyne PI typically exhibits. This eliminates a major contributor to a PR's typical fizziness when pushed. And I'm running a 5V4-GA rectifier which puts the voltages at vintage correct
EDIT. Warren just confirmed that the PD was in DR mode for his entire play review.

Thanks heaps Warren, I just enjoyed listening to your playing and relieved that the amp could nearly keep up!

Now that is the kind of demo I like. Focus on the playing and the natural amp sounds. No waffle and pedal gimmicky

Lots of clean and in between. Marvelous BSB
