Cabs to sell
I'm going to build a couple of cabs for sale, trademe/marketplace/here... I'm thinking 1x12 and 2x12, what would your preferences be? Just gauging interest. I promise not to hit you with an invoice, more putting feelers out to what the current zeitgeist is. Chur

2x12s are cab du jour.
Oversized with a convertible back would be my recipe if I were to offer a product.

Re: Cabs to sell
I've done a couple before, I'm really wanting to make something that will sell reasonably easy. More than happy to do 4x12 on commission, but big cabs with shipping from Nelson, is probably not going to happen

Re: Cabs to sell
Thats what I was thinking, I'll probably do a 1x12 oversize so I can provide a 2x12 or 1x12 baffle. More wondering what specs people are looking for as well - pine/ply corners/no corners, handles, grille cloth etc.NippleWrestler wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 5:23 pm 2x12s are cab du jour.

Choice of Pine or ply for a main. then add entree, sides and dessert options.

Re: Cabs to sell
What about a choice between a vintage or modern style cab? Vintage is pine, tweed, open back, modern is ply, deeper, black tolex, closed back for example. 2 options that cover 2 common tastes. Add convertible backs for extra value maybe?Bg wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 5:44 pmThats what I was thinking, I'll probably do a 1x12 oversize so I can provide a 2x12 or 1x12 baffle. That feels somewhat comprehensive.

Re: Cabs to sell
ooh, I have ideas.
1x12 Thiel Cab - these things are supposed to have 4x12 level low end punch and headroom in a 1x12. The Mesa ones are expensive and hard to get. I think a well priced NZ made one would sell great to go along with all the many 25 watt heads that are out there, manageable 4x12-ish tone in a small package.
1x12 extension cabs - I think it would be cool to have extension cabs for various common amps, Blues Jnr, Peavey C30, Vox AC15 etc.
Matching cosmetics for a mini stack, use it as a stand or plug it in for more noise. Or have one behind you and one on the other side of stage.
1x8 (or similar) extension cab with side firing speaker, matching cosmetics but maybe shorter? This would be to point at your friendly Dummer. Fraser, Dummer in my band often asks me to point my amp a bit at him - what if I had a side fire cab to (A) lift my amp up and (B) throw some noise at him?
It could even have a slight tilt to the top to aim the main amp up and away from the crowd's faces.
You could also do silly things like running reverb and delay into the side fire cab, powered by an EHX pedal amp or similar, that would be fun, and ridiculous.
