Lil Amp Project.

Post by crowbgood1 »

Well I'd been trying out a few different OD pedals and hadn't found the elusive sound...not even close. Seems to me if ya run any OD pedal through a fender it sounds like fender OD :? . Which has its uses.... but it wasn't "that sound"

Well I'm at this mates place (who happens to have "more gear than a bull could shit")and i see this little amp. I'm like "whats this go like" He's like "Have a jam, its a lot of fun.
Well I plugged it in and....... ..."that sound" came from it.

It's a Laney LC15.... not a LC15R....(the R dont have "that sound)
The LC15 is a little 1x10 combo that sound a bit boxy but great through a 1x12. Plenty loud enough. Its got one channel with not much clean going on and heaps of drive.
So Rocky built me a AB switch and I'm running the Laney and the HRD.

So I've pulled it apart and making a head 1x12 cab set up.
Here's where I am so far.

Not yet... will make a back for it today and look for a handle. Feet will be rubber door stops from placemakers.

Might put a fan in the back as I'm gonna gig the wee thing.

FWIW Weta Guitars in Wellington sells those bog standard cab handles by Ernie Ball (steel reinforcing strap wrapped in plastic) for about $25 AFAIR - usually they have them in stock. Ryan Thomas has them too but I can't remember what price his ones are (maybe $20?).
