Amazingly awesome. He's done a whole bunch of builds and they all look incredible. I'm thinking about going down this route myself - this blog reassures me that it's a great idea.

Damn that was one drool-worthy photo essay!

Very neat wiring job too, sure seems like he knows what he's doing!

Yeah it's pretty stunning what he's up to there.

I, however, will be sticking to buying amps.

I particularly liked the section where, after naming the amp after his wife (Rachelle) he updates to note he is divorced and has adjusted the lettering to simply read 'hell'.

That was awesome.

More time poking the wife and less time building 800 repros and posting at length about it on the net might have kept that logo intact.

I should specify that I'm not going to build the thing myself. I couldn't build a Boss metalzone. Mr CAB and I are discussing plans....

You should try to do as much as you can by yourself and then get him to finish it.
Are you wanting to build a 1959, 1987, 2203 or 2204? That amp in those pics is a MKII MV Superlead, which is the nice 2203/4s that people talk about. They came out in the late '70s and people like them better than the JCM800 2203s. I'm not sure if Mojo do a kit for it though, Metro do, but they won't give you as good of a deal as Ryan could.
Mojo and Metro both use Heybour OTs, but I'd recommend a Marstran which is also made my Heybour, but to Marstran specs. I don't think there is much difference between Sozo caps and Mojo Dijons. Get the right components and good tubes and this could absolutely kill a 1959HW.

Dude! Do you know how much technicians hate that? You might as well hand them a pile of parts and say build it from scratch. It will be quicker and cheaper than them having to redo everything properly.
If you can't finish it, why start it?
