Anyone repurpose a SS combo cab for tube amp?
Been watching all the frontman25r s and other cheap little fenders go for a song on trade me and it occurred to me that one could use the combo cab for a nice tube amp build. Maybe even the chassis once it's gutted.
Anyone done this ?
For example, here's two that would be excellent for a champ build.

only once, the cab was to narrow for the tube amp chassis.
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

thought about it, I think the general problem you'll run into is the chassis' are built for tiny SS transformers, tube transformers are generally a lot bulkier. Having said that clever layout design and a bit of ingenuity you should be able to fit a fairly simple SE 2 tube circuit in a 10Watt SS amp pretty easily.
I actually have an old Kustom 100Watt Digital Head that I'm gonna rip apart one day and turn into a Supro style Head

I think this is practical. I have a Marshall valvestate combo that now houses a cool vintage Princeton circuit. It fits easily, though I needed to do a bit of regluing of the cab where it had begun to separate: old combo boxes take a battering.

Got another one on the go at the moment. Used to be a Behringer Thundershitbird until last week.
