Two new amps and 1 rehoused.

Post by Marshmallow »

Been a while since posted.

Fender was completed the other day but had issues and was hard enough to find out due to having no oscilloscope.. I really should invest in one. Thanks to Mike, the issue was solved.

Layout has been partially adjusted and ended up using orange caps. Was looking into sozo caps but currently too expensive.

Originally, I wanted a natural finish pine cabinet but since I stuffed it up (see photo), I'm just going with the standard fender black tolex (arriving today). Too bad the woodgrain was beautiful too. Just not good at making those natural finish haha πŸ˜‚. I'll need to look into this further and probably make another natural cabinet.

Also decided to rehouse the 30w 6L6 trainwreck as well and make another ODS but this time a #124 but we've seen enough gut shots of the ODS. My 102 is also currently sitting in the storage due to size of the combo haha

tolex hides one thousand issues :) without the sharpest tools, its hard to get pine perfect. You need decent hard wood to risk a finish that needs no filler on tearout.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Nice work. That custom reverb amp is cool. What schematic you used for that?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Thanks man. I used a deluxe/twin reverb single channel/ Princeton, no trem. Single tube reverb, Mid boost knob, MV, presence(era), 6v6 gz34 rectifier and choke. With the mid boost, sounds like a tweed, break up at higher volume is awesome. Nothing special, just wanted a pedal platform/fender tone amp.

Have the hand written schem (though modded slightly) and the chassis layout.

Thanks all! Still waiting for the corners, grille, piping and rubber feet. Most likely next week. There's been a lot of waiting when it comes to building amps lately.

I have an extremely large amp planned in the next few months (550mm chassis with 4 preamps) but I think afterwards, I'm going to start building simpler and smaller low wattage amps with one tube reverb and simple fx loop.
