Murky was my first, I'm still emotional... but he's a GC who entrusted me with the most awesome sounding LP and vintage AC30. Many thanks.

MikeC Sixty-One SRT

Post by MikeC »

Progress :). I recently finished building murky's Sixty-One SRT v5.2. I also installed a pair of production control panels on my prototype (now also v5.2) & top mounted it in a head cab - see pic (murky's completed chassis is on top so you can see the back panel). The OFF/ON switch on the back is a "Corrective Filter" which gets rid of the fizz that EL84s can produce (e.g. Marshall 18 watters). It was murky's idea to make it switchable . I'll release the v5.2 schematics & layouts to any interested NZG amp builders after the next build & I will be able to supply the control panels, turret boards & the drilled chassis. Getting there!

Picked my chassis up yesterday - hadn’t been that excited in a long time!

Mike’s done a phenomenal job on this one. Such a unique voice and feel. High notes explode and carry. Chords grind with clarity. Super responsive to the guitar volume knob. So much mojo! Great work Mike!

I’ll see if I can cobble some clips together in the next couple of days…..

That is tidy! Bonus OCD points for orienting all the resistor colour codes in the same direction. That’s some seriously impressive attention to detail! Awesome job Mike.

Thanks Nik, It's great to be able to hear it from in front of the speaker as purely someone listening. Nice playing by the way and thanks!

I still don't need another amp
Sounds lovely Mike.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Basic black, I suppose would be the best option. Is it the same width as the Plexi? My OCD needs to know…
