LP Custom Headstock Veneer Supply

Post by Will.R »

Hi all,

I'm planning to take on a PGK LP Custom build this year and was wondering if anybody local has a lead on a LP Custom headstock veneer? I have found one on CrazyParts.de however it is the 70's shape/dimensions and I am after a 50's.

I've tried a couple of forums, custom builders, and even ebay but am yet to have any luck.

Thanks!

I'd suggest making your own...get the right logo fr Crazy Parts, and they might still do the split diamond as well. Then route out a blank of fibreboard and glue in the pieces.

Similar theme. My 'very player grade' 74 Strat could do with the headstock refinishing but I'm concerned about finding the correct decal. Possible do you think?

Yep. EBay usually has some options

However, if the finish is original on the headstock, then you will lose value if you refinish & replace the decal. What's bad about it now?

I did consider that but I don't quite have the right tools to craft one myself, nor do I have the patience to get the binding right  I'd be happy to pay someone to make one for me, just having a hard time finding a source or builder!

Yeah, it is quite the faff. Would end up being expensive to make from scratch if you're doing the whole binding thing too.

Yeah binding on the headstock wouldn't be a fun time for me haha. The PGK kit comes fully bound etc, just needs fret dressing, paint, hardware etc. I might just end up going for a LP Jr. build, then I won't have a hard time with the headstock
