I had the full suite on my jag ... buzz stop, mustang bridge, original string mute off a 60's jag. No amount of tweaking made that bugger play right.

Still the coolest looking guitar ever though.

I put a mustang bridge on mine and it was perfect. Great trem system.

There's also this option, which retains the vintage look but with some little improvements:

still never really been a fan of floating bridges - the only floating bridges i've ever used that stay in tune are PRS ones.

Nothing dodgey about the original 60s jag bridge.

Honestly, I think that it's really a matter of taste to some degree. A jag or a JM is never gonna be everyone's cup of tea.
But, I actually think the design is quite ingenious and works very well once set up right. I can go a whole gig, of pretty heavy trem use with only minimal retuning needed, say and quick check before each set. I agree, they are a bit of a weird thing,...but nothing sounds quite like fenders original jag/JM trem. And for surf guitar there really is no substitute. It's THAT sound. But then again, I'm biased as I'm completely frothing on jags.

BTW, si, your guitar is looking excellent ! Congrats on a job well done!

When I get around to trying to organise the next Tronfest with Willow and others I'm looking forward to bringing quite a few new things.
