You called - I was wondering about brass nuts like they used years ago on accoustics - did make it a bit more lively I recall (relly had a washburn with one) but not sure it's worth the effort.

Well, SNAP! *I* had a Washburn (ABG) and I had a brass nut put on it. :lol: 8)

Actually, it was "nutS" plural because the luthier couldn't find a nut deep enough and had to use two guitar nuts.

And yeah, it was nice but the difference wasn't astounding.

Did the 'crashiness/twanginess' of new strings last longer with brass?? What killed it a bit, I suspect, was the fact that luthiers had to buy new nut files to cut the stuff and they wore out very quickly - had several moan to me about that - but for 2/3 years it was all the rage.
You can't do THAT on stage!

Hard to say because at that stage, I was still using nickel strings. Plus, I had a more aggressive playing style (a lot more pick). So the strings were different and I played them differently.
