custom pick guards

Post by timj47 »

Greetings,
I am trying to shop around for a tortoise shell pickguard and have found a couple of options but apparently the material itself is quite expensive, something to do with Tortoise's being hard to peel or something?? Anyways I am looking for a P/G for an Epiphone LP junior (only paid a small price for it as a project guitar) in the above flavour, I had a estimate of $50-$70 from a local supplier (who I am sure from his rep will do a wonderful job) who would make it from the original's specs. Just seems a bit for a fairly small piece of plastic, please let me know if I am being a tight arse and this is what they cost or if anyone knows another local guy. Feel free to PM me if anything comes to mind, thanks.

If you can get the material and own a router it's straight forward, price quoted seems fair for a custom one off tho....
How can I be sure I'm here?
The pills that I've been taking confuse me...
