Nitro in cans in Wellington
I'm putting together a early fifties type Telecaster and may finish the body in butterscotch (if I'm able). I see from here that Wairau Paints (Auckland) do Nitro paint in cans etc. Anyone in Wellington?

I've bought nitro in cans from a place in Christchurch and another in the NI (can't recall where) mixed to exact DuPont code. I have the technical data sheet somewhere and the code for the lacquer itself. Just might take a moment to find it.
My feeling after having done a few of these now is that though an amazing finish is possible it won't last. Nitro continues to dry and shrink in over at least the first year. By then it looks nothing like it did at the start. Watched John Suhr sharing his thoughts on nitro during a YouTube factory tour. He said that what counts is that the finish is thin and hard rather than the particular type of paint. Paint, he said, has no tone.
