undecided
Im building a tribute to a Les Paul Junior DC. All Korina. = rosewood f/board
Im having trouble deciding on pickups (s). My original idea. was a single P90. Im thinking about 2 pickups.....and about what choice of pickup.
I am tempted to use a Alumitone P90.....it will capture all of the wood goodness...
or a Dimarzio virtual
or a more original, p90 style
or two of them
what do you think?

Single P90 surely? It's the simplicity and great tone of these guitars that makes them fantastic.

Piezo bridge to blend in...
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.

Re: undecided
no problem fitting two pickups..but some people believe the second pickup adversely affects tone due to the second magnetic field....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUdq59CRcxk This is worth a watch to see the subtlety of a single pick up guitar.

Re: undecided
I'd go single P90, but lean towards a noiseless one, kent armstrong and Lollar both make noiseless versions.

Re: undecided
yeah but isn't there a problem with routing a neck pickup which would weaken the neck tenon?Lawrence wrote:no problem fitting two pickups..but some people believe the second pickup adversely affects tone due to the second magnetic field....
