Telecaster Custom Build
I have wanted a 59/60 Telecaster Custom for a long time. I doubt my chances of getting a real one at current rates. So, time to build.
Allparts body - alder with a hint of natural red to it.
MusiKraft neck - light flame, birdseye, Brazillian Walnut fingerboard. '59 Les Paul profile but with clay dots and all the vintage trimmings.
First post is about the body. Did some work last night which has brought it along nicely....ready for top coats this weekend.
I'm using nitro lacquer. Tinting is StewMac. Using my own mixes. Gun is a shitty low pressure job and I really need a new fancy one if I'm to do more of this stuff. I have a new compressor and it is awesome.
The colour approach was simply. Wood prep. Wash coat. Yellow tint base coats. Tobacco brown burst sprayed inwards. Blacked tinted brown for the outer edge. No red.
The guitar will be heavily aged,so this thread will need to span a few months. Neck pics soon - it needs a few more clear coats before I can block sand it back.

Re: Telecaster Custom Build
Late nights and verrryyyy early mornings. Mind you, that finish as you see it is simple as to execute if you have the gear/know how. Probably 2 hours max.MrDINO wrote:Very tasty...I thought you had a daytime job?
One day, something like this might be my day job though...and I could live with it.

Wow! That is shaping up quite nicely sir
I climbed on the back of a giant albatross which flew through a crack in the cloud to a place where happiness reigned all year round and music played ever so loudly
