Yeah! Great work. One of my favorite songs, albums and blues guitar solos. Really dig the 4th chords inversions on the bridge of this track....very much a dan thing. Solid effort.

Cheers! I recorded several takes of the fills in that verse, took the three best ones, and panned them left, right, and center.StratMatt88 wrote:Nice work mate, love the wah sound.

Brings back memories of driving anywhere with my dad as a kid in his old chev Malibu wagon. He ALWAYS had either pretzel logic, the night fly or JJ Cale playing.

Really good job!... was just singing the "where did you get those shoes" line the other day. Always get the 'ear worm' when I buy new sneakers.

Cool! I love that song. Never knew that was its name. Think I'll put some SD on my iPod for work tomorrow.Sustainz wrote:My cover of the Steely Dan classic. Enjoy and thanks for listening!

Re: Pretzel Logic
Fantastic, I suppose you offset your own vocals by a few milliseconds to get the effect of multiple people singing?
Perhaps you should be on stage with Larry

Thanks man! I'd always envisioned for some strange reason that they were bowling shoes that "the man" was talking about.crowbgood1 wrote:Really good job!... was just singing the "where did you get those shoes" line the other day. Always get the 'ear worm' when I buy new sneakers.
Thank you! It was quite a daunting task at first, but once I got the drum programming done, things just fell into place. Can never have too much SD in the iPod!Molly wrote:Cool! I love that song. Never knew that was its name. Think I'll put some SD on my iPod for work tomorrow.

Thanks, man! I think I would shit myself if I was on the same stage as LC. I'm maybe worthy of handing him a pick if he were to drop it.jvpp wrote:Fantastic, I suppose you offset your own vocals by a few milliseconds to get the effect of multiple people singing?

The backing vocals. I love the production end 'cause I'm really such a noob at it and I learn shit as I go. First, I have to thank benderissimo for some great tips he gave me awhile back on how to get better sounding vocals in the mix. There's a certain silkiness to the original backing vocals that was hard to replicate. I first tried duplicating the backing vocals and doing the offset thing, but I didn't like the result. So I ended up actually recording 3 separate tracks - one in the upper range of my natural voice, and two in falsetto - and then panning and dialing in the mix until I was happy with it. All vocals ran through a high pass filter cut-off at 100hz; then some EQ, and lots of compression. I think the combination of everything helped give it a chorus-y effect. The lead vocals ran through a buss with a bit of reverb and mixed so it was not quite completely dry; no reverb on the backing vox.

Whatever you did, it worked. What software are you using?

Re: Pretzel Logic
Thanks. I used Ableton to build the drum track and saved it as a wav file, import it to Audacity use Audacity for recording and mixing. That's pretty much how I do everything.jvpp wrote:Whatever you did, it worked. What software are you using?
