"see you later alligator" in a chicago blues way...
lately ive been obsessed with becoming what i call the "double showoff" - the front guy who plays solos and sings lead vox simultaneously.
also i wanted to do a "best sound i can get in my living room" recording.
so here we go - "see you later alligator" with me playing everything, engineering, mixing and mastering.
(did the vox and solos separately tho so i cheated)

Well done!
The forum rules are that you have to say what gear you used etc, aren't they? Nice clear recording.

Got some cool new life into an impossibly cheesy song

It's only cheesy because most numbnuts don't know how to play it, but I enjoyed Dylan's take on it.Some Bozo wrote:Got some cool new life into an impossibly cheesy song
Harp could have been a bit more prominent in the mix, or less bass, though perhaps.

my "new" lexicon omega (had no idea i was buying totally outdated soundcard that lexicon gave up on coz they were unable to code woking drivers, combination of shop lying to me and my own stupidity)
pedula mvp bass di'd into the soundcard
schector hellraiser guitar thru epiphone valve junior into hartke 2x10 bass bin recorded with studio projects b1 into joe meek mq3
kit micd with 2xb1's in glyn johns configuration and 3 close mics (kick, snare, rack toms)
vox and harp b1's into mq3 then out the insert point into the insert return on the sound card.
sonar 8.5.3, minimum possible channel plugins, abbey rd mastering pack and waves l3 for mastering.
thanks for the positive comments all

Man - that's pretty awesome.
I like the drumming too. I scrolled back up to check that you were playing them as well? It doesn't sound programmed which if it is, you did great programming.

yup its my attempt at drumming to a click. on my 70's era cheap tama with brushes taped up to make them a bit more "sticky". and cymballs where the cracks extend nearly to the edge of the cymball... Kev from Drumshop and Richard from bass might be interested in listening perhaps. or not:)

I'll let them know although I don't think they can listen at work.dylan wrote:Kev from Drumshop and Richard from bass might be interested in listening perhaps. or not:)
