I was just kidding. . Like I said, I have an old Audio-Techinca ATM41HE which is apparently a vocal mic but which I'm going to try first. If it doesn't work I'll probably get an SM57... If U2 could use them on The Unforgettable Fire they've got to be ok.Conway wrote:Fixed.Rhettsauce wrote:$100 and you're on drugs!Conway wrote:Actually Rhett, I've got a used once Audio Technica AT2050 you can have for $200.
(That's a polite decline btw).

Yeah but what would Brian Eno know about recording?Rhettsauce wrote: If U2 could use them on The Unforgettable Fire they've got to be ok.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Re: Recording Solution For $200?
Well, the Fast Track arrived. I plugged in my mic (into the guitar input, as it didn't have one of those three pronged mic leads) and recorded my amp a bit.
It sounds great - I'm really happy with the sound except for one thing... it's really quiet. I'm sure I'm making some laughable noob error, but even with my amp at wake-the-neighbours levels, when I play back what I've recorded I have to turn the volume to almost full and there is a background hissing noise.
I've tried changing the input monitor from stereo to mono, I've tried changing the mic input level, and I've tried pushing the button that changes the input from "guitar" to "line". Nothing is working.
Any recording guys on here know what my problem might be? I'm using Garageband on an iMac, and I've changed the input to the Fast Track in the settings and within Garageband. I tried Googling for the answer but had no luck...

By using a guitar lead instead if a mic lead, the fast track is probably automatically setting the signal level to line, hence why you are getting a wussy little signal

Wondered if that might be having an effect. I'll pick a mic lead up at the Rockshop later on.

Recording Solution For $200?
9.5/10. Best movie I've seen in ages. Violent, for sure, but it's stylised, and quite over the top funny.Rhettsauce wrote:I'll tell you after.Kloppsta wrote:thats the one with heaps of violence, profanity and racism aye? sorry couldnt help myselfRhettsauce wrote:Wife and I are going to Django Unchained.
-0.5 only because I thought it went about 20 mins too long.

This worked out perfectly. I recorded some test stuff after I got home and it's 100% what I was after. Sounds way better than expected, even. I'm really stoked, especially since my total spend was $100.bbrunskill wrote:By using a guitar lead instead if a mic lead, the fast track is probably automatically setting the signal level to line, hence why you are getting a wussy little signal
