Feedback trick

Post by starkie »

When recording at Roundhead Studios in December, my amp was out in the main studio (B) and i was in the control room, hearing the live sound of the guitar being mixed with the tracks, out of the studio monitors

The easiest place for me to stand was by coincidence, over a service hatch in the floor which just happened to have a crapload of power cables through it.

Call me mad, but I swear it improved the ease of creating feedback

;)

The monitors must have been pretty loud!

With capturing big guitar sounds, for me nothing beats standing in the room in front of your cranked amp. If the song ends on a big open chord, I instinctively want the guitars to sustain into feedback rather than just taper off.
