Anyone compared Celestion G10's

with any other speakers? My CVR has these pathetic 10" blue speakers, and I am looking into something more efficient with better "tone".
It's either that or get a Fender Twin, and they weigh a ton.
Any comment welcome

I'm not sure if Celestion's are the best match for Fender amps, unless by 'better' tone you mean 'different'. For classic Fender tone, you might be better of looking at the likes of Jensen or Weber. If you're after more of a british tone, however, Celestion may just be the ticket.

Those ones have Ceramic magnets - AlNiCo seems to be the most popular replacements for vintage Fender tone. My Victoria has 2x AlNiCo Jensen Vintage P10Q (reissue), and they sound fantastic. I've also heard very good things about Weber.

Alnico is what he's trying to get away from, I think.

Unique got his Webers direct. There aren't many speaker distributors in NZ. Not even Celestion has an NZ agent.

Well Alnico ain't really the problem I don't think, it's the way they break up, and I am a purveyor of "clean" tone for my normal sound. When I want to muddy it up a bit I use a TS9 (well the modern one I modded to be one).
Originally I got the CVR 'cos it was nice and easy to lug around, and at RSA venues the sound stays clean. (Well, at most of them.)
Actually, if Celestions have a "British" sound, then they may be a good choice for me - I tend to like the Marvin-Knopfler-Clapton sota sound anyway.
