Maybe for a 1X12 15 watter...the 30 watt stereo should fetch more? The weakest link with these amps are the very average Celestions...but something else in it (like a blue or Red Fang) and it's killer (well, that's with the 12inch 15 watt model). What else is there at 30 watts, all valve, class A, stereo for $999 ( or even $1500) used? Probably not ideal, especially for live use. It's more of a roots/blues/classic rock amp. you could probably use one for Aerosmith/AC/DC type stuff, but not Ozz.Zakk Wylde wrote:You reckon it would be good for playing Ozzy songs on, etc?

I still reckon $999 is about right, and the fact it hasn’t sold indicates that it’s not perceived as a bargain. IMO, brand recognition is not there for more $'s and early ones had transformer problems. And then there’s the very inconvenient control placement, and I also don't think stereo means much to most guitarists. Even the odd latter Gibson versions I've seen around Auckland were sold at low prices. I guess the brand doesn't pull the people. If it were a Gibson Goldtone at $999 it probably would have walked out the day it came in - virtually the same amp. I played a Gibbo Goldy in Wellington some time back, priced at $3499.

The last brand new 1x12 15W w/ reverb Gibbie Goldtone I saw was $1700 odd at MW Greenlane, and it didn't seem very tempting compared to the more expensive Orange AD15/12 alongside it. At the time, that Gibbie was cheaper at MW than you could get them for in the US, though of course the exchange rate was a lot worse.
