Can someone point me in the right direction for the type of transformer I would need if I was brining back a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 from the states like this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=480508

I had a look at Dick Smiths but I dont completely trust their quality and i'm not entirely sure of the most appropriate model. Would it be possible for someone like Clarry to modify the amp itself to accept 240V? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.
Do your homework - the Fender product might have a 240v tap, just lying there unused. There's plenty of DeVille talk on the web...

Righto I suggest you go to the Fender website and look at the downloadable manual and schematic (circuit diagram) for the amp you want.

In the right hand corner of the schematic section dealing with the power supply are the part numbers of the correct fender xformers for the various primary voltages 100, 113, 235 and 240. You want the 240 one.

When you order the amp, order the xformer as well! Clarry (or any good amp tech) will fit it and should not charge any more than for half an hours work.

You now owe me a beer should we ever meet!
You can't do THAT on stage!

I have a US model Ampeg SVT3Pro which I run through one of these :

http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storef ... View/M1154

It does the job well enough and all up cost ~$1700ish for the amp, shipping and the transformer which a good saving vs paying the retail price of ~$3.4k

Its a pain in the arse carting the transformer about though, and every time I plug it in the P.A. makes an unhealthy sounding pop, so I'm pretty tempted to look into getting the transformer switched over as per B45's advice.

I just turned 18. I'll buy you 2 :) Looking at the back of my silver jubilee the other day i noticed the switchable voltage thing and had a wee look on the net. Unfortunately I don't think my dad will be getting the amp for a while, maybe if we head to the states later in the year. In more exciting news, I have a Gibson 335 on the way - http://www.marksguitarloft.com/images/black335/1.jpg .

I think i'll take pics of my whole setup when I get it :)
