Re: DJW amps
Had her apart yesterday and phoned Clarry for advice as there was parasitic oscillation when dimed.
Tried an old mullard 12AT7wa I had in V1 and that made all the difference and solved the problem. Will next try a 12AY7(when I find a good one) as per the 5e3 spec and see what that brings.
Don't know what he's done about a solid state rectifier as I didn't see one in there.Mind you I may be out of touch with this as all I used to work with were the solid squat round discs(other than the rectifier valves themselves) that fitted into an octal tube base as on other amps I've seen and played.
The bass is good and tight so I've got no complaint with that.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

The MIG 50 he's selling seems reasonable too.slowfingers wrote:They're a hellacious deal at $895!kaijin wrote:They appear to be back on TM, the guys is trading under the name Loadlines

Re: DJW amps
I'm thinking at that price, he must only just be covering the cost of parts, with perhaps $100 on top which wouldn't go near covering his labour.slowfingers wrote:They're a hellacious deal at $895!kaijin wrote:They appear to be back on TM, the guys is trading under the name Loadlines

Too many guitars, not enough talent.

Re: DJW amps
he'd be lucky to be covering parts IMO unless he sourced cab and chassis from somewhere locally or made the cab himself.

Re: DJW amps
He's lost his job by the sounds of the auction, hence the cheap price, poor bugger

on my tinny slaptop speakers the guitars aren't exactly prominent.. bummer song sounds like it could rock, but those keys just make it too mario bros for me
