legends! thanks for all the advice dudes. the laney club 12r and the fender pro junior are looking like contenders. both are probably overkill but at least either could be used in a live jam situation in a pinch and would probably be cool for recording too.

the pro junior is more than i would want to spend, so might need to see if a second hand one pops up.

i bought a full go pro hero 8 black rig last year with all the bells and whistles and used it once on our african safari. havent used it since so i might look to try and sell that to raise some fundage. if anyone here is keen, pm me, will do a mint deal for the NZG massive. could look at trades too? chur

I have a Katana Mini for playing at home. 7w solid state. Lunchbox sized, can run on battery, or a standard Boss 9v adapter.

Tone is all good for playing at home, and I've never turned it up beyond half way playing at home. Took it round for a jam one time, and it was louder than I expected.

If you're happy waiting and lurking on Trademe, keep an eye out for an MPC classic 5. They're a 5F2A tweed Princeton clone with an 8 inch speaker, very close to a tweed Champ, and tend to be dirt cheap. MPC went out of business a while back but they come up for sale occasionally. I got mine for $280 just before lockdown. Lovely tweedy drive at loud TV volume. I genuinely prefer it to my tweed Deluxe clone.

There's something almost identical for sale on the other side of the ditch - the Strauss classic 5. I think they come from the same Chinese factory with a different local badge. Apparently MPC swapped out some components locally for higher quality ones too.

There’s a bunch of Mannix-labelled Classic 5 amps kicking about too, with anonymous 8” speakers, but still sound good. I haven’t been alone in the house to turn mine much past half way for ages, but it still sounds good there. The dude I got mine from had the last four to make a radio transmitter before deciding that he’d rather have the money instead.
