Now might be the time for the Princeton Reverb II set I have been procrastinating about: 3 x 12AX7, 1 x 12AT7, matched pair 6V6 (GTA or nearest equivalent).

Conspiracy time! Conway has architected the Ukraine invasion to sell more tubes to fund his blue guitar obsession!

Re: Get at them tubes..
I did just buy a matched quad of EH EL34's that were on sale for the JCM800, just in case I decide to power it on twice a year for 15mins at a time...
I'm happy enough with stereo Katanas and dirt pedals for the rest of the time.
I was talking to Guy B here in chch, and hes almost out of some tubes.

Wow, the last time I went to Guy B to get new valves put in my TSL (when I dropped it a bit heavy onto it's back when putting it in the car) he had hundreds on his shelves...chur wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:25 am I did just buy a matched quad of EH EL34's that were on sale for the JCM800, just in case I decide to power it on twice a year for 15mins at a time...

I'm grabbing a full set for the TSL just in case, bit of insurance in case I ever really start playing it rather than my Katana, it gets the odd play these days when I want to get that nice Crunch sound.

Hmm, so I guess my Muffs and Mig 100 will have to go, they're post-soviet build. But can I keep my Поливокс (polivoks) synth? that's soviet era, so not part of the current regime, but Putin pines for CCCP, so maybe that'll have to go tooMogwaiBoy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 14, 2022 11:25 am Look at the back of your Sovtek Big Muff or Mig 50... does it say "Made in Russia"? Look, stop feeling guilty - let me take the guilt away from you. Infact, you won't even have to pay me for my selfless service - I'll pay you to take that heavy box of guilt off your hands, I mean how generous is that? I do my bit, y'know.

He might still have a pile of less popular ones, unsure. I'll have a nose when I go to get some valves tested over the coming week. My other Marshall takes 6550's at the moment, but it gets powered on less than the 800. I seem to have a few here that I'm unsure what their history is now so want to see if they have life left.sty wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:35 amWow, the last time I went to Guy B to get new valves put in my TSL (when I dropped it a bit heavy onto it's back when putting it in the car) he had hundreds on his shelves...chur wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:25 am I did just buy a matched quad of EH EL34's that were on sale for the JCM800, just in case I decide to power it on twice a year for 15mins at a time...

While working from home its quite nice just having the solid state guff around, just pick it up for a quick 5 min noodle then put it down without having to warm anything up, or turn anything off in between.

Buggery, might have to look out for some more 6L6's as. Just realised although I have plenty of NOS preamp tubes I don't have any of the big ones

Re: Get at them tubes..
The 6p3s is the same tube and available very cheaply on ebay. I've used them for 10 years without problem in Laney, Marshall, and Mesa amps.MiniForklift wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 10:30 am Buggery, might have to look out for some more 6L6's as.
