u use an sg for metal?war-wolf wrote:i have an f50 head , 4x10 cab and an sg with 490/500t's... the 500t is my pickup of choice,i usually swap out the bridge pickups in all my gats for one.i really like it,and bought for the fact it doesn't sound like a recto but has more character than the dsl100 i used to record with.different strokes i guess...

He obviously hasn't heard of the Godfather of metal- Tony Iommi. Or Daron Malakion of S.O.A.D, Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden, Carlos Cavazo of Quiet Riot, Chino Marino of Deftones... or any of the hundreds of other well-known guitarists who use them for metal.CustomAudioBoutique wrote:What's surprising about that?
Are those two halves of that sentence related? Are you saying that Iron Maiden are nu-metal?bc_rich_ wrote:i never new the maiden guitarists used sgs i thought they used strat/deans, but imho who really counts nu-metal as metal?

And vice verssa, so to speak. I used to play the jangly, upbeat-lowish gain new-wave/indie rock stuff I play with an Explorer, which looked super kooky in a genre dominated often by strats and Teles.Basket Case wrote:Meh, don't be sorry. i don't think it really matters what sort of axe you play for whatever style. as long as you like the sound and feel of it, who gives a shit.
