He obviously hasn't heard of the Godfather of metal- Tony Iommi. Or Daron Malakion of S.O.A.D, Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden, Carlos Cavazo of Quiet Riot, Chino Marino of Deftones... or any of the hundreds of other well-known guitarists who use them for metal.

In all the footage from the making of their newest album Adrian is playing an SG. I have never seen them using Deans. Are you calling I.M nu-metal?

Meh, don't be sorry. When you have Slipknot playing Telecasters then you start to realise that you can put a hot pickup in anything and play metal with it.

And vice verssa, so to speak. I used to play the jangly, upbeat-lowish gain new-wave/indie rock stuff I play with an Explorer, which looked super kooky in a genre dominated often by strats and Teles.

erm.... teles should be maybe just 'anything', they're pretty popular in many circles.

i don't think it really matters what sort of axe you play for whatever style. as long as you like the sound and feel of it, who gives a shit.

these are not my opinions, these are just what the majority would think, but you would be right on the tele, in slipknots case.
