Im looking for a tube amp, whats the best deal someone could give me on a really good tube amp for this price? (5-600 buks)

im looking for second hand obviously, and i dont care how beat up it is as long as its sweet on the inside and sounds amazing. i dont use drive channels and am looking for fender/vox clean that takes pedals really well.

I'd totally recommend a Sovtek MIG-50 if you can find one, big, beautiful clean, and loves pedals, ESPECIALLY a Russian Black Re-issue big muff. The muff sounds amazing!

What minimum and/or maximum wattage are you talking?

Volume-wise, what does it have compete with (guitar amps, bass amp, drummer etc) and what size audiences would you be playing to?

Combo or head?

im talking 15 (would rather more clean headroom though) to 50 watts.

playing at the micheal fowler centre and the town hall in wellington, size crowd inbetween 500-2000 and has to keep up with drums, bass, another guitar, the works. note the amp will be miked up whenever im playing so has to be loud enough for on stage volume atleast.

preferably a combo however if a good deal on head+cab comes up i could be interested

Even if you were saying 5-6000 dollars, I would still say a Jansen Bassman 50 (10 of them!).

The Rockit would match or beat most of your requirements. The biggest criticism of them was that they had so much headroom you had to play at the volume of a 747 taking off to get them to break up. They like pedals a lot. Never tried the later version like this one but I still have my canefront one. And they do have a 75 watt / 130 watt output switch.

They do weigh a lot.

Yeah probably not enough clean headroom with the blues j, thats the only problem

A Rockit is the real deal - provided you can bench press 400kg.

If you're mic'd up whats the problem? don't they provide monitoring at these places?
