BEST SMALL ACOUSTIC AMP?
I would appreciate suggestions for a good, small (~15W) amp for an acoustic Martin DM guitar. I want it mostly for practice purposes, but possibly also for small gigs in due course. Thank you.

What do you think of the Belcat KA25-RC for $299, or the Alesis Coolfire 15 for another $100?

Belcat amps are an unknown quantity at best, utter junk at worst. For $300 you could get a decent name brand amp.
No idea on the Alesis.

There are heaps with good reps. You know, all the big ones - Fender, Peavey, Laney, Marshall etc.
I'm not down with acoustic amps, mind.

IFAIK they're effectively a small PA... full range of freq (unlike guitar amps), but they often have a 2nd (hopefully XLR) input, so at home they can be used to practice singing along withKhann wrote:What are acoustic amps good for when only playing at home? Effects?

+1 to those. might be a lil more expensive that 800 bucks tho.bbrunskill wrote:ashdown acoustic ratiator sounds great, about 800 new.
there are some cheapish stagg acoustic guitar amps that one of the boys at work raves about. i reckon chuck an eq pedal infront of it and it would do really well. has an aux in and a mic in too!
