Re: The Monsters of Gain
I like the Soldano Avenger. Shame about the EQ settings/guitars used to demo. But I guess that is the point (y).

not all the way through yet but the diezel has smoked everything for me thus far,way more articulate and clear.Which doesnt suit my style at all...just shows how useless these demo's are at times!

Just listened to the Diezel after reading that, and yeah, it slays.war-wolf wrote:not all the way through yet but the diezel has smoked everything for me thus far,way more articulate and clear.Which doesnt suit my style at all...just shows how useless these demo's are at times!
I also quite like the Peavey. The problem I have is that they're playing a bunch of different stuff for each demo, which makes it a bit hard to compare for me.

agreed,as with all comparisons what is needed is some consistancy in the material-even if it's covers like the tool riff the dreads guy busted out.

Re: The Monsters of Gain
I wonder who chose what amp was in and what wasn't because there are some great high gain amps missing........

Re: The Monsters of Gain
I'd say the reality of these kinds of things means it would've been down to what was available, or specifically, what they could borrow at the time. The cynic among us might suggest it's whichever brands advertise with Premier Guitar, but then (from memory) I've never seen a Soldano ad in PG.willow13 wrote:I wonder who chose what amp was in and what wasn't because there are some great high gain amps missing........

Re: The Monsters of Gain
well I'm no expert at all when it comes to amps but to start with surely the deizel herbert is the gain monster over the vh4 in terms of mean and nasty tones isn't....also the rivera kr7 is about as brutoolz (while still being really clear and defined)alanp wrote:What would you have included, Willow?

Re: The Monsters of Gain
+1 on the Uber
Good to see they included the meat & potatoes amps too ,ie: Peavey, Recto,Rockerverb.
In terms of the Diezel VH4 in & not a Herbert, I guess maybe cause its the most used. From Adam Jones to Warren DeMartini & Hetfield among others
My only gripe is Misha Mansoor's demo time over the other guy.
Not really a fan of his style to demo an amp...too techo & samey

Re: The Monsters of Gain
I just found that in some vids they'd be chugging, and others they'd be doing runs at the low end of the fretboard, and in others they'd be doing them at the other end. It just didn't give me that apples with apples feeling.

Not sure I could bring the br00tz on an amp called "Herbert".....willow13 wrote:well I'm no expert at all when it comes to amps but to start with surely the deizel herbert is the gain monster over the vh4 in terms of mean and nasty tones isn't....also the rivera kr7 is about as brutoolz (while still being really clear and defined)alanp wrote:What would you have included, Willow?
