I like my language the same way I like my amplification technology: outdated.

Re: NAD: Marshall 1974 clone
Looks great
Did you get any mods built in?
Keep thinking I’d like to have power scaling on mine. That said, moved into a new place with more room and I can turn things up a bit louder, so its getting played regularly now, so yeah.. glad I kept it. Looks like you’re sorted now too.

Nah it's a stock kit from GDS Amplification. Very vintage correct (e.g. speaker wired directly to the 16Ohm tap of the OT).jimi wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 1:12 pm Looks great

Contemplated asking Mike to do a MV mod, but to he honest I don't use the attenuators or MV options that I have.

Re: NAD: Marshall 1974 clone
I’ve got a pretty lucky set up at the new place with a basement room half under ground, in a well sound insulated house, but I still use a pedal in front rather than turn it up to the point of break up. Both for keeping the peace and the sake of my ears.
Would love to get that sound at about half the volume.
Anyway I’ve waxed on about this before. The best sounding amp at the least useful volume. Too loud for practice, too quiet for gigging.
It’s sounding good at home now though- volume at about 1. And a DLS in front for a bit of breakup.

I've only had mine a few days. You speak the truth...jimi wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 4:36 pmI’ve got a pretty lucky set up at the new place with a basement room half under ground, in a well sound insulated house, but I still use a pedal in front rather than turn it up to the point of break up. It it pretty bright until the volume gets to 3 or 4 and some compression starts happening. I haven't had much of a go with pedals yet. But I think at low volumes an OD that works well with the DR should go ok with the 1974. Open to suggestions for good low-gain options! Had a brief fang on Friday and it seemed to like a TS more than a Klone. Which isn't surprising.

Re: NAD: Marshall 1974 clone
Hmmm... I tend to gig with my Bellbird for the extra headroom, so my pedalboard is set up for that instead. I use a Dirty Little Secret M3, and a Bondi Sick As (Klone style) with that amp, and they work fine into the Marshall, though I've not spent time thinking about whether I should use a different set of pedals with it. Tend to just turn it up to about 4 and then ride the volume when I get the opportunity.robthemac wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 5:03 pm I haven't had much of a go with pedals yet. Always been a big fan of hotcake into Marshall amps, but they don't play so well with the Bellbird so I no longer own one. that is something I need to change though.

Slightly precarious, but tidy. Lucky I don't have small children.

Re: NAD: Marshall 1974 clone
Mental note, when your wee one gets bigger, always check your amp volumes before turning on
