I think you mean 'louder' not better. Many amps are meant to be 1x10 or 1x12 - not all sound better through more speakers.

As for 4x12, yes they're lots of fun, but gone are the days of my playing through a stack in my 3x3 metre office. Last time I played a 4x12 live was at an outside gig to a thousand people or so. I've also played them in pubs, and the beam from a closed back 4x12 is dreadful if you're in the firing line, dreadful if you aren't because you can't hear the fucking thing. More annoying is the complaints of your band being too loud.

One of the best tones I ever had was from a Mesa Boogie Subway Blues - with a 1x10. Would love to have that one back.

Yep well that's the game, you find and use the gear that suits your senses and playing requirements. What model of Deluxe is the 2x10?
