I wouldn't wish the 36watt kit on anyone who
a) doesn't have a lot of patience
b) doesn't own a decent pair of chopsticks, to spend at least 3 days moving wires around to cure the hum/hiss/squeal
c) needs any form of instructions other than a circuit diagram
The 36 watter is one of the most noisy amp designs of all time.
Go with the Soldano or a JCM800 (you can mod the shit out of it ) and go with Ceriatone - you'll get instructions.
oh heres another pic of mine

Oops... wrong movie.
But entirely relevant.

+1 for Ceriatone
I just built the 5E3 fender tweed head from them. Got it with the board pre-assembled plus all necessary components and tubes for $350US incl shipping. Sounds awesome, though there's still a little residual hum, and I haven't built it into a cab yet.
For another $100 or something, Nik (the Ceriatone guy) will build it for you prior to shipping. That's ridiculously good value. Or if you build it yourself, you can email him with questions and he responds promptly with good information. Really good aftermarket support.
If you're new at amp building, I highly recommend getting it built first. Aside from being much safer, there's no substitute for a job done right first time, and it costs the same or less than getting an amp tech to try and debug it for you if you don't get it right.

better than the real thing.... handwired with love
You need to start off small and build up to a big one, and don't forget there are voltages in there that will kill you... make a mistake you might not get a second chance.
Cheers Mr Grits, extension cab on its way shortly then the 36 watt stack will be complete

Mine did! It's a tweed, and it sounds like a tweed. I like how tweeds sound, so it works out great. That said, the 5E3 circuit is one of the simplist around, since it's 50 years old, so pretty easy to copy.
Ceriatone amps seem to be pretty close reproductions of the original circuit designs for the most part, so you should be ok. Some of the other guys on the forum have built other ceriatone kits more in line with what you seem to be after - maybe they can chip in?
100Watts seems like a lot for a tube amp to me, but that just might be personal preference.
the 5E3 is low wattage - nominally 15W, and it can fill any venue I'd play pretty comfortable through a 1x12 speaker. I've just done a two week gig where I was playing a 190 seat theatre, competing with drums, brass, reeds, keys and vocals - all through the PA - and they told me I was too loud with the amp set to 2. I dialled it up to 12 between shows one day to stretch its legs a bit - it was awesome, but I can't imagine ever needing it.
Lower wattages give you more options for speakers too, which is something to bear in mind.
