dayl wrote:Man, I guess as long as it sounds sweet bro, but if you paid a premium for it you should get some $$ back if it was not noted.

I'm in a similar situation right now where I purchased an auction with a Dimarzio X2n that turned out to be a no brand POS and as a relolution I'm now offered a dimebucker for $60 that I dont even want.... would prefer the pup that I paid for and wanted instead of the one that costs me $$ and didn't want. Heh, sorry to hijack, didn't want to start another thread.

I need a hug.
All good Dayl. I think you should ask for a refund and just keep looking, or go to Adrian who can sort you one out.

Here's my email to the guy (G2D pedal):

"Hi Andrew,

The G2D pedal arrived today - it is indeed a lovely sounding pedal.

The first thing I noticed about it was that it didn't arrive by courier(post) which is what I paid you for - it arrived by standard post.

Also, the pedal is in terrible condition, there are dozens of chips and dings, AND the spline of the pot is broken so that the knob wont fit on. Not to mention the missing screws from the back. You didn't mention any of these things in the auction, nothing about the fact that the pedal was a wreck - instead you photographed it in low light, not showing any of the dings or mentioning that the knob was merely sitting on top of the pedal.

What can I say? I'm not happy - I didn't get what I expected or what the auction led me to believe I was getting. I do like the pedal, and would like to keep it, but I would also like to ask you if we could work out some sort of a discount. I think that it would only be decent that some of the total price was refunded (including the overdue shipping, seeing as I didn't get the item couriered by courierpost like the auction said and was price at) and that you pay for the repair by G2D of the volume pot. Alternatively we could work something out to get the pedal back into the former condition (resprayed or the enclosure replaced as well as the volume pot repaired). I am happy to provide receipts as evidence of the cost of these repairs.

How much do you think is fair for a discount? Please let me know if you have any suggestions or if you think of any way to solve this.

Nik"

Wow. Yeah, that's my old pedal, I put the TF sticker on it! It was pretty banged up when I got it, but I got it much cheaper than that so I didn't care. I actually replaced that volume pot because the old one was scratchy. The new one was a Dickies one which has obviously not held up so well, although it wasn't broken when I sold it. The skirting on the drive knob was though. That broke while in my posession.

The screws were missing when I bought it, and the casing was pretty much as scratched up as that.

I know the dude why sold it, he's a good guy, but he's young. He probably didn't mean to mis-lead you (I hope), but yeah, clearly he should have described it better. I hope you guys work it out.

Hopefully we can work it out then. How much did you pay for this pedal when you got it? The Drive knob seems to work similarly to the others so It's alright.

By the way, I've been considering taking that TF sticker off - nothing against transformers I just don't like stickers on pedals. I meant to ask you, is there some sort of horrible dent/paint chip lurking underneath the sticker? If yes, I might just leave it on for comic value :D

Haha, no, I just put the sticker on cos I like Transformers. I'm surprised it's still there.

Dude, if I told you what I paid for that pedal, you'd spew.

I don't mind. I only want to know to give me an idea of what I should be asking for as a discount. Let me guess, $25? How much did you sell it to your friend for?

Blacklisted. 2 negatives, 2 neutral and one not-completed out of 45... I wouldn't have gone there...

forums should have 'time machine' buttons. No matter how quickly you edit something you wish you hadn't said, (especially if it's something embarrassingly stupid or a typo) someone will usually ALWAYS read it and quote it before you get the chance

Be honest. If you are happy overall, give him the smiley. However, also note all the facts for him to consider when he writes up his next auction. A neutral response is just as harsh as a negative one from what I've seen. Seriously though, trademe is not a retailer, or an auction house. It's an auction website. I've bought "good condition, never played" items that are worn, broken and missing pieces. :|
