Cool, well he seems keen on getting a few pedals to me for review, so hopefully that may go some way towards helping some of you guys decide whether or not something is worth your time or not.Kiwiaxe wrote:This is my concern too. I'm 90% interested in dropping what could be the better part of $400 on a wah with added features. But that's a lot of dough for a wah, period - not to mention one that you can't try, youtube, read reviews etc.aliasceiza wrote:I asked him if I could buy one of his pedals and then if it wasn't what I thought could I send it back within 5 days, he said no. You could get all legal on it, consumer guarantees act says you can do that with any product, longer period too, but that just wastes time, and makes for unfriendly dealings.slash-ed wrote:How many other small pedal builders will let you try before you buy if you don't happen to be in the same city as them? I don't really get that.
If he has faith in his pedals, and they do what he says they do, then there shouldn't be a problem.
I do understand his problem tho - which is that he custom makes pedals so its harder to then take a return. But maybe he could have a demo "base" model (ie: stock standard, uncustomised) that he could let you try even with an appropriate deposit or credit card bond or something.
I've asked for the Omega wah, one with some of the optional features, but I haven't got a clue whether he keeps many on hand or just builds to order or what.
Also taking a look at the Solar Fuzz (cool concept!) and the Rockbox, since apparently it's based on a Jubilee - can't resist that.

your memory is deceiving you .... he didn't get defensive, I got defensive for him. As far as I remember (I have pm's from some of the packdruz15 wrote: I don't know if I would call it that. A bunch of us were like "dude the pedals sound great but they don't look as professional as they are due to the font, maybe think about changing it?"
then he got quite defensive about it.

Re: Questions for Mr McPherson (effects pedals dude)
true but as Tony pointed out he got a lot of feedback from a large cross-section of the guitar pedal buying community in Nz lets face it people on this forum probably spend more on gear than most others in NZ, and he was told by many that they were put off by the looks, but otherwise would be keen to try/own his pedals. He may have not "past participle of get" defensive but I don't remember anyone really getting on his case like the JD screamer guy, it was just "hey I think ... about the font and ... agrees with me"willow13 wrote:your memory is deceiving you .... he didn't get defensive, I got defensive for him. I understand him not wanting to change it for now though, they have a look and people know when they see them "that's a McPherson pedal" if he want and made them look all new (say like Catalinbread) it's almost like re-establishing a brand, which obviously they can afford to do now, but he probably doesn't want to at this point.

Yeah I think he realised the ridiculous way he was acting might look bad if in future anyone was to buy one of his products and googled JD Screamer and saw him basically abusing people who dared question his genius, so he edited all his posts to dots (don't know why he didn't just delete but meh)Some Bozo wrote:Ah yeah thanks.
